Local Pensions Partnership Administration (LPPA) has become the latest organisation to join an industry-wide forum to tackle the problem of pension scams.
LPPA, a third-party administrator of pensions for the Local Government, Police and Firefighters’ Schemes across the UK, has joined the monthly forum, which has been set up by the Pension Scams Industry Group (PSIG).
The Pension Scams Industry Forum (PSIF) aims to help share knowledge of schemes, companies and individual concerns around pension scams. It also aims to identify key themes and better understand the techniques and approaches scammers use.
Janet Morville-Smith, Head of Risk and Compliance at LPPA, said: “We are thrilled to join the Pension Scams Industry Forum. Tackling the problem of pension scams is crucial and very important to us at LPPA to better protect our thousands of pension scheme Members. All this is reflected in us becoming the latest organisation to join this forum.
“We now look forward to contributing to the forum each month, sharing our knowledge and expertise, and joining the fight against pension scams to stay one step ahead of the scammers.”
LPPA is the first company to join the forum after responding to the launch of The Pension Regulator’s Combat Scams pledge initiative. The initiative, which took place earlier this month, asked organisations to consider becoming a member of the forum.
Tommy Burns, Chair of the PSIF Forum, said: “The Pension Scams Industry Group is delighted to welcome Local Pensions Partnership Administration as the first organisation to join its Pension Scams Industry Forum.
“Almost 50 PSIF member companies participate in the forum,” he said. “This is a key part of PSIG’s work and has helped trustees and administrators identify many transfers of concern and has better protected pension scheme members from pension scams,” he said.
