Samaritans Awareness day – Sunday 24 July

While retirement is often a life chapter that many people look forward to, it isn’t a happy time for everyone. Thankfully, there are charities and organisations that can help make things that bit easier.

One of these charities is Samaritans. And, as this Sunday (24 July) is Samaritans Awareness Day, we wanted to remind you that they are on hand to support anyone who is struggling to cope.

Getting help or helping others

Retirement can be a lonely and difficult time for some people as they cope with illness, a loss of independence or a lack of daily routine.

The pandemic over the last few years hasn’t helped. It’s no coincidence that calls to Samaritans mentioning loneliness and isolation have increased by more than a fifth in the past two years.

If you know anyone who is struggling with retirement or any other aspect of their life, Samaritans is available to anyone, day or night. And having someone who’s there to listen can often make all the difference.

You can find out more about the charity and the awareness day here.

Other organisations that can help too

Samaritans is one of many charities that can help people in later life, such as those struggling during their retirement.
